About the Firm
Max R. Tarbox
Lead attorney, founder, and one of the most credentialed bankruptcy practitioners in the Northern District of Texas.

Biography
Two decades guiding clients through the hardest chapter of their financial lives.
Max R. Tarbox has practiced bankruptcy law in West Texas for more than twenty years. In that time he has earned what very few attorneys hold: dual board certification in consumer bankruptcy from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and in business bankruptcy from the American Bankruptcy Board. Fewer than a hundred attorneys in the country carry both certifications.
Martindale-Hubbell has rated him AV Preeminent, the highest possible mark for both legal ability and ethical standards. He has been named a Texas Super Lawyer in eight separate years between 2011 and 2019, and recognized as a Best Bankruptcy Lawyer seven times between 2010 and 2017. He served as President of the West Texas Bankruptcy Bar Association and currently serves as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee for the Northern District of Texas, an appointment that places him among the attorneys the federal court entrusts to administer bankruptcy estates.
In 2017 he completed the 40-hour mediation certification from the Office of Dispute Resolution for Lubbock County, expanding the firm's practice into structured dispute resolution for clients who want to resolve complex financial matters without going to trial.
Why this work, and why this way
Bankruptcy law is often misunderstood as a last resort. In Max's experience, it is more often the first responsible step a client takes after months or years of trying everything else. The firm's role is to bring clarity and a steady hand to a moment that almost always feels chaotic, and to make sure the legal protections Congress wrote into the bankruptcy code are used to their full effect.
Every case is handled personally. There is no junior associate at the table. When you call Tarbox Law, P.C., you are speaking with the attorney whose name is on the door.
